About Me

Lost in Spaces

I remember big red buses trundling around

As we waited in line at the bus stop

Me and Kathleen

I remember lying in the sunshine in the soft long grass,

Listening to the grasshoppers chirrup

Me and Kathleen

I remember the sound of my mum calling out when

It was time for dinner or tea for

Me and Kathleen

I remember how my dad looked, shirt sleeves rolled up

Mowing the lawn, walking up and down, up and down

Passing me and Kathleen

So how can I not remember yesterday,

Nor who I am supposed to be today,

Nor who that woman is standing beside my bed?

She says her name is Kathleen.
